Gastón Solnicki
was born in Buenos Aires in 1978. He studied at the ICP and at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, where he received his BFA in Film. He directed the films South (2008); and Papirosen (2011), which premiered in Locarno. He was awarded Best Film in BAFICI and was selected by the New York Times critics.
Kékszakállú (2016) had its world premiere in Venice-Orizzonti, where it was awarded the international critics' prize FIPRESCI and the Bisato d'Oro; festivals such as Toronto, NYFF and Viennale followed. He was selected by Artforum as one of the ten best films of 2016.
In 2017 he had his first retrospective at the New Horizons Festival in Wroclaw. He is currently working on his new narrative feature film Electrocute.
